Mission
Building Homes.
Our Mission: Through home ownership, Habitat for Humanity Capital District helps to develop and transform communities by building affordable and sustainable homes in partnership with lower income families.
That mission is made possible through partnerships and the generosity of our volunteers, sponsors, and donors and our Habitat Homeowners. Habitat for Humanity operates as a construction company; we build houses, as a bank; we offer 0% interest mortgages to Habitat qualified families to own their home; and, as a support organization; serving in partnership our families over the term of the mortgage.
Building Communities.
Our Vision:Habitat for Humanity Capital District will be the preeminent community developer of affordable housing in the Capital Region.
Good housing in communities attracts economic investment and development. Good housing also contributes to thriving school systems and community organizations. It is a catalyst for civic activism and a stimulus for community-based organizations. Safe homes and neighborhoods, in which residents are satisfied with housing conditions and public services, help to build social stability and security.
Building Dreams.
Habitat for Humanity has shown that building homes does more than put a roof over someone’s head. In clean, decent, stable housing:
- Families can provide stability for their children
- A family’s sense of dignity and pride grow
- Health, physical safety, and security improve
- Educational and job prospects increase
In short, a clean, decent and stable home can make all the difference.
