Today we have volunteers on both Alexander Street and Delaware Street. We’re putting up sheet rock on Alexander in record time and we also have one house with the sheet rock finished and taped. Mean while, on Delaware Street, we’ve finished putting up the trusses and we’re now putting up the fire walls. All Habitat for Humanity houses are LEED certified. LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design and was developed by the United States Green Building Council to set a benchmark for design, construction, and operation of high-performance green buildings. LEED certification is the most recognized global standard for high performance buildings that are efficient, cost-effective, and better for occupants and the environment. This third-party verification states that our Habitat homes are designed and built with human and environmental health as our main interest.
