The work of Habitat for Humanity Capital District (HfHCD) is made possible through the endless support and assistance of our amazing volunteers.  Thanks to our volunteer labor, we are able to stretch every donated dollar twice as far.  There are many opportunities for volunteering with HFHCD – each providing an activity or function to fit your comfort and commitment level.

The Habitat construction site is open year-round.  We welcome both skilled and unskilled volunteers on site and we provide all of the necessary tools, though you are free to bring your own if you prefer.  To sign up to volunteer and choose the dates that work best for you, create a volunteer profile by clicking on Opportunities at the top of the page.  If you wish to volunteer with a group, please sign up as far in advance as possible to secure a date.  Once you have signed up, you will receive all of the details you need to know about how to have a great volunteer experience with HfHCD.

You can help by:

• Swinging a hammer and performing other construction tasks
• Leading crews of volunteers
• Providing hospitality by making breakfast or lunch for our volunteers

The ReStore is HfHCD’s greatest fundraiser, and after the build site, our greatest volunteer need.  The ReStore accepts new and gently used donations of building materials, appliances, fixtures and more, and resells them to the public at a reduced price.  All proceeds benefit HfHCD’s Affordable Housing Program.

ReStore volunteers are needed to:

• Clean, move and organize inventory
• Pick up donations in the ReStore truck
• Assist customers

Our committees support staff with ideas, professional services, strategic planning, fundraising and more.  We encourage people of all skill sets and backgrounds to apply.

We are currently looking for a volunteer to greet our guests, answer phone calls, and complete miscellaneous office tasks.  Our office hours are 8:30am to 4:30pm.  If you are interested and available to work within these hours please contact Hannah Nolan.
