On Monday, January 15th from 8:30am-1pm, Habitat for Humanity Capital District will be taking part in the “ BE A KING” event at Empire State Plaza, organized by the New York State Office of General Services.
January 15th is one of our favorite calendar holidays at Habitat for Humanity Capital District. It is the day that we observe the late, great, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with a “day on” instead of a “day off.” Volunteerism is at the heart of Dr. King’s philosophy, and the purpose of the “BE A KING” Volunteer Fair is to introduce people to ways that they can become active stewards of service throughout their communities. The greatest tribute we can bestow upon the memory of Dr. King is to invite people of all backgrounds to gather in our community in pursuit of justice and equality. Habitat for Humanity Capital District will be represented by Klarisse Torriente, Director of Community Outreach, and Vanessa Dingee, AmeriCorps Member.
Come join us on Monday!
