Team build days

Team builds are a great way for your company, organization, faith congregation or school to give back to your community and help advance a shared vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live.

Team builds with Habitat allow your team to learn new skills, encourages stronger relationships within your team, and engages your team members in a unique and world-renowned way.

Every day, thousands of volunteers around the world gather at Habitat constructions sites to help build a world where everyone has a decent place to call home. Will your team join them?

How do I coordinate a team build day?

Due to our construction schedule and the number of teams seeking a build day, we can only accommodate teams who donate. Team build day donations can be made at the bottom of this page. After your team’s donation is processed, we’ll will reach out to your team captain to begin coordinating your build day. To ensure everyone has a meaningful and engaging task, we can only accommodate teams of up to 10 volunteers. For team build day questions, the team captain should email build@habitatcd.org.

Why do you ask teams to donate?

It takes a lot of resources to keep a Habitat build site running smoothly and even more resources to complete a Habitat home. It can cost us upwards of $200,000 to build just one Habitat house, which is sold well below cost, but at market rate, to Habitat homebuyers. Build day donations begin at $1,000.

We ask your team to match your volunteer impact with a financial contribution to help cover our cost to host volunteers, including to train + supervise volunteers, buy building materials for your build day and arrange a meaningful and impactful volunteer experience for your team. All donations are fully tax deductible.

Funds can be raised by individuals, companies, or through matching funds and other grants. We will happily accept donations above the minimum price as well as provide fundraising ideas.

What does a typical team build day look like?

Team builds begin promptly at 9 am and end at 3 pm. Typically, parking is available, but we encourage car pooling and public transportation. Teams are welcomed by a site supervisor, who will also instruct your team in safety, assign tasks, and teach any necessary skills. Tasks for the day depends on the stage of construction your team build day has been scheduled on. At lunch time, team members can share what they have been up to before going back to work and ending the day at 3 pm. Your team build day begins with a donation of at least $1,000. Gifts above $1,000 are greatly appreciated and help us purchase materials for your build day. Reach out to us for fundraising ideas and support!

Your team build day includes:

  • All the equipment & training your team will need for the day’s tasks

  • Lunch for each member (team's choice between sandwiches or pizza & salad)

  • Habitat volunteer t-shirts for every team member

  • Facebook/Twitter posts of your team in action (organization’s account tagged)

Please fill out our secure donation form below. Build day opportunities begin at a minimum of $1,000. Our average corporate gift is around $10,000. If your team needs to make an offline donation, please email your team’s name/organization and gift amount to build@habitatcd.org, and we’ll reach out for offline giving instructions.
