We encourage you to reach out to us at (518) 462-2993 or to our executive director at christine@habitatcd.org to discuss the many options available for supporting Habitat beyond your lifetime.

  • To add Habitat as a beneficiary in your will, you can share this sample language with your attorney for general or contingent requests:

    General bequest

If you intend to leave an outright gift of cash, securities or other property by designating a specific dollar amount, a particular asset or a fixed percentage of your estate to Habitat for Humanity to be used for general purposes:

“After taking care of all expenses, debts and other provisions, I give, devise and bequeath ___ percent of the rest and residue [or $___ if a specific amount] to Habitat for Humanity Capital District, a New York-based charitable organization [Tax ID# 14-1708404] currently with administrative offices at 207 Sheridan Avenue, Albany, NY 12210.”

  • Contingency bequest

If you wish to make a contingency gift so that Habitat for Humanity will receive a portion of your estate if your named beneficiary does not survive you:

“If any of the beneficiaries named in this will should die before becoming entitled to receive their distributive share of my estate, I direct my trustee to pay or transfer the share to which such beneficiary would otherwise be entitled, to Habitat for Humanity Capital District for its unrestricted use and purpose.”

  • To add Habitat as a beneficiary of a qualified retirement, life insurance or other financial account, you will need this information:

Habitat for Humanity Capital District (Tax Identification Number: 14-1708404) located at 207 Sheridan Avenue, Albany, NY 12210

  • You may also set up a charitable annuity fund, a charitable remainder trust, an IRA charitable rollover or make a donation of stocks or bonds. Please contact us at (518) 462-2993 or christine@habitatcd.org to discuss your options.
