Veteran Roof Project

The Owens Corning Roof Deployment Project is a nationwide effort to show gratitude and honor the veterans who served our country and the families who support them.

Since the inception of this program in 2016, more than 475 military members have received new roofs. Learn more about the national partnership here.

Our local Habitat for Humanity affiliate helps coordinate this effort by verifying eligibility and submitting a nomination to Owens Corning. This program is a partnership between Owens Corning and Habitat for Humanity International. Local Habitat staff and volunteers are not involved in the actual roof installation.

Please note that this program only covers the installation of a new roof. Any additional required work would need to be covered outside of the Owens Corning program at the expense of the homeowner.

Qualifications

  1. The household must meet Habitat income qualifications, which means earning less than 80% of the Area Median Income.

  2. Veteran passes both a sex offender and background check, as required by this program.

  3. Veteran has military discharge paperwork that states that they have a honorable discharge from the service (with a copy to be included in the application).

  4. Veteran must live in Albany County, Rensselaer County or parts of southern Saratoga County (Clifton Park, Halfmoon, Waterford).

How to apply

The process starts with verifying your eligibility. Before we send an application to verify income, we'll just need some basic information about the veteran in your home and the state of your roof.

Please note that it may take some time to find an available participating contractor, and there is no guarantee that the work will be done on a particular timeline. Some areas of the county are experiencing some delays with product and PPC availability and Owens Corning may not be able to complete all projects.  There is no guarantee that nominated projects will be completed, but all will be considered, as long as they meet the required qualifications.
