Capitol Build: Raising walls and support

On May 20, 2022, over 200 Habitat volunteers from across our state converged in West Capitol Park for Habitat for Humanity New York State’s Capitol Build Day. Our very own site supervisors helped volunteers to frame a two-story house for our Habitat neighbors north of us in Glens Falls.

The state approved the governor’s budget, which included a historic $200M investment toward building and persevering affordable housing. Capitol Build Day put the power of Habitat’s model on full display; we are advocating for the $200M be allocated to non-profit affordable homebuilders, like Habitat, to create affordable homeownership opportunities across the state.

We also spoke to 98.3 WTRY about Capitol Build, listen to the segment here.
